H-Squared Wellness is an integrated site for human and horse nutrition, health and overall wellness. You do not have to be a horse owner/lover to benefit from the services provided! The mission statement of H-Squared Wellness is twofold:

On the human side of things, my goal is to educate people on healthy eating choices through whole food nutrition, thus empowering people to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Through individual or family consults, my goal is to help you make those healthy food choices a lifestyle and NOT a diet!!

On the horse side of things, my goal is to educate horse owners/lovers on proper nutritional requirements for their individual horses, thus obtaining optimal health and performance for each animal. Through nutrition seminars at your barn or individual consults, my goal is to assist you in developing a feed program that will deliver the nutrients necessary for your horse to obtain optimal health and performance.

Nutrition Tip

In order to keep your body functioning and healthy, you need to drink plenty of water.   To figure out how much water you need per day, take your body weight and divide it in half.  Whatever that number is, that's how many ounces of water you need to drink each day!  So, if you weigh 150 lbs, then you need 75 ounces of water per day to keep all the cells in your body running.

Your horse's body is 70% water.  If you remove all the water from a 1000 lb horse, he/she will weigh 300 lbs!  A 1000 lb horse will drink up to 10 gallons of water per day.  On hot, humid days, a working horse can lose up to 4 lbs of water and drink up to 20 gallons per day.  Make sure that your horse has an ample supply of fresh, clean water to keep them from dehydrating.
